Stellar angular diameter and spectral flux observations have been combined to test the absolute flux distributions predicted by recently published model atmospheres. The theoretical fluxes are essentially consistent with the observations, except in the near ultra-violet of late A, F and G types, where the models predict too great a flux. Effective temperature and bolometric correction scales, based where possible on empirical data, have been proposed for luminosity classes I—V and spectral types O—G
