Value orientations of people migrating to Prague from a historical-sociology perspective

The topic of the thesis is value orientation of individuals. The value orientations are investigated both from theoretical and research perspective. In the theoretical part of the thesis, we focus on values from the perspective of historical sociology. In the research part, we performed twelve interviews with six people who immigrated from the countryside to Prague. Typology of value orientations stems from the theoretical concept of values of Israeli sociologist Shalom Schwartz. Schwartz defines values as motivational types which lead an individual to a specific action, and are produced by sociocultural environment of the individual. The method used for the analysis of the interviews is Grounded Theory, with the use of which we reach the subjective level of each respondent. We obtain new information which we analyze, and use it to answer research questions
