This bachelor thesis deals with the comparison of Czech and Russian similes, which are semantically focused on the appearance and personality of a human being. The theoretical part summarizes the knowledge about phraseology and its position within the linguistic system, about the phraseological unit and about similes. The practical part is focused on the analysis of selected phrases in the Czech and Russian languages. The similes are entered into charts and categorized according to their meaning and degree of equivalence. In the charts, each simile is given a definition, an example of use in context and the degree of equivalence. The results are then analysed and summarised in the conclusion.
