Changes of Public Broadcasting in Slovakia in the years 2004 and 2007

Diploma thesis "Changes of public service broadcasting in Slovakia in the years 2004 and 2007" deals with the theme of Slovak public broadcasting televison (STV) in time, when it passed through radical changes. During examinated years Slovakia adopted new media legislation, two general directors ruled television, STV started new program composition and funding of the television changed. After years of struggling with inner problems and with the press of politicians STV started to build its new identity. Diploma thesis aims to map those years from the view of identity building and aims to find out, which impacts on STV the terms of office of directors general Richard Rybníček and Radim Hreha had and how the broadcasting in public interest changed through these years. The merits of thesis lay in the years 2004 and 2006, when Richard Rybníček was director general of the television and when the most important changes were made. Second half of year 2006 and the year 2007 etch in the development of STV after resigning of Richard Rybníček and one-year term of Radim Hreha etch in readaption of television to new legislation and to norms such as digitalization and duty of broadcasting in the public interest on each program separately.
