The bachelor's thesis will examine one of the aspects of the perception of the Civil War in today's southern American states. The examples of several removed Confederate statues will show the time in which they were built, but also their current impact on the cultural and social environment of the United States. With the help of professional literature, newspaper articles in the American media and opinion polls, it will be examined how the statues are removed and destroyed and what is the general public opinion about their presence and their destruction.
