International audienceCet article se concentre sur le rôle joué par Mao Zedong dans la création du système légal communiste chinois en général et dans les pratiques exceptionnelles de la peine de mort sous Mao en particulier. Il tente d'étudier ce lien à travers l'analyse d'un événement fondateur, la campagne de répression des contre-révolutionnaires lancée en 1950, et à travers l'examen de trois cas spécifiques, permettant d'observer les caractéristiques concrètes de ces pratiques dont les effets continuent à être sentis dans la Chine actuelle
