أسباب الاختلاف فی المراد باالأحرف السبعۃ

The main theme of the science of Qira'aat is the diversities in recitation of the Quran . It is based on the statement of the Holy Prophet S.A.W that the Quran was revealed in seven ahraf. Scholars have given various interpretations of the term ahraf. Jalaluddin Suyooti has cited thirty five versions. But he has not attempted to synchronize them. The adversaries of Islam, who never miss an opportunity to find faults with the teachings of Islam, have tried to take benefit of these differences of opinion. They take the position that the wide differences of opinion in fixing the meaning of the term indicate that the Holy Prophet S.A.W never gave this statement. They try to lead to the logic that the diversity of qira'aat does not go back to the Holy Prophet S.A.W and that the terrn is a fabrication of the lexists. In this paper the author has tried to explain that these diversities are not opposed to one another. They have emerged as a result of the diverse trends of the times, peculiarities of the lands, and the academic levels of the scholars; and this is but natural. Therefore this is an unjustified pretext to refute the hadith the qira'aat. All interpretations are correct in their particular frames of reference
