Adult education and personnel development

MEd, North-West University, Mafikeng Campus, 2002The purpose of the study was to investigate the role played by adult education in enhancing the training of personnel in order to boost the performance at work. The analysis of data reflects that poorly planned development programmes for personnel produce poor performance at work place. It was also discovered from the analysis of data that, unemployment result from lack of skills. The data also reflected that fly-by night programmes result in failure / poor performance as far as performance at work is concerned. The data also reflected that acquisition of irrelevant skills by people contribute to poor performance at work place. It was also revealed from the data collected that, lack of knowledge result to the exploitation of illiterates by the knowledgeable (literates). Chapter one portrays the orientation of the study, the statement of the programme, the aim of the study, the hypothesis, the purpose and significance of the research, delimitation and definition of terms. Chapter two focuses on the review of literature and consultations of both primary and secondary sources and discussions under different topics. Data was also collected from the Internet. Chapter three, discuss in details experiences of other countries as far as the inception of adult education is concerned. Chapter four, details on the methods used to collect data, including the population and the procedures for the collection of data. Chapter five is on data analysis and interpretations. The findings are based from noted data extracted from respondents. Chapter six, the researcher concluded by recording conclusions and recommendations observed during the study.Master
