Mass transfer in disperse systems.

The fluid dynamic aspects of liquid extraction are investigated for the mass transfer system isooctane/o-nitro-phenol (solute)/water (continuous, extractant phase), in flow mixing vessels of various geometries. Dimensional "order of magnitude relationships, suitable for mixer scale-up, or system change, are derived from turbulence theory. The existence of locally isotropic flow, and inertial subrange control of the droplet hydrodynamics is substantiated
