The question of when life begins is a deeply divisive issue, which has been debated to the moon and back without ever truly being answered, or so it seems. This article will critically analyse the reasoning behind the ‘Prolife’ argument and highlight its arbitrary nature. It will endeavour to examine the relevant legal instruments in order to discern whether the law recognises the right to life of unborn babies. Finally, this article will engage in a theoretical discussion about abortion, i.e. that if unborn babies were to have a right to life, would it be violated by abortion.
