Originating from Islam teachings, Islamic Sufism developed in the context of Iranian culture and was influenced by Iranian thoughts. Such thoughts and ideas affected theories, demeanors and customs of Sufis with different trends, and resulted in different mystical perspectives. In his Hikmat al-Ishraq (illuminism), Shahab al-Din Suhrawardi explained the history of philosophy in ancient Persia to his time and called mystics such as Bayazid Bastami, Abul al-Hasan al-Kharqani, and Abul al-Abbass al-Qassab Amoli the followers of this philosophy.
