Sonification is a process which utilizes non-speech audio as a tool to convey information, providing alternative solutions to visualization and visual user interfaces. Sonification is an interdisciplinary field, comprising for example sound design, psychoacoustics, computer science and musicology. However, the aesthetic aspects of sonification are often seen problematic or irrelevant and are somewhat an underdeveloped subject.
