Akulturasi Papua Jawa pada Migran Papua di Kota Malang

Malang city is also often referred to as the city of education. So it is not surprising that many people flock to Malang City to study. People who migrate to Malang City come from various regions, including the easternmost island of Indonesia, namely Papua. The Papuan people who migrated to Malang City must be faced with a new culture that is different from their original culture. The new culture often creates conflicts between communities. A conflict can be prevented if acculturation occurs. Acculturation is a mixture of two different cultures and processed in such a way but does not leave elements of the old culture. Someone who can acculturate, it can be concluded that the person is also successful in adapting. For this reason, the focus of the study in this research is to try to describe and describe how the processes and forms of acculturation have occurred in Papuan Migrants. The theory used in this research is the social construction theory of Peter L. Berger and Thomas Luckman. The method in this study uses a qualitative approach with a descriptive type of research. Data obtained through observation, interviews and documentation. The research subjects were taken using a purposive sampling technique where the researcher used quotas and certain criteria. The data is then analyzed through the process of data reduction, data presentation and verification. Data validity using source triangulation technique. Based on the data obtained in the field, the researchers found the processes and forms of acculturation of the Papua-Javanese culture inherent in the informants. From the results of the study it was found that the objective reality of cultural mixing occurred from the smallest things first, such as the procedures for using language to communicate daily, where Indonesian mixed with the accents of each regional language to regional accents or tone of voice is used to express something that is then mixed with local culture and language. After they interact with their friends and the community in their environment, Papuan immigrants who cannot communicate in Javanese become able to communicate in Javanese even though they cannot write Javanese script. At first, Papuan immigrants thought that life in Malang was more individualistic because the urban environment was not the same as in Papua, which tended to gather in rural areas. However, Papuan immigrants are not bothered by that because individualism is what drives them to develop more and get to know people with them blending in with their social environment such as the campus environment or the neighborhood where they live.
