KOMUNIKASI ANTAR PRIBADI MAHASISWA DENGAN TEMAN AKRAB DALAM PEMBENTUKAN KONSEP DIRI (Studi Kasus pada Mahasiswa Ilmu Komunikasi 2014 Universitas Muhammadiyah Malang)

Interpersonal communication is one of the factors that determine a person's self-concept. For this reason, it is necessary to research the concept of self in interpersonal communication. This study aims to gain an understanding of the influence of student interpersonal communication in the formation of self-concept when communicating with close friends. The type of research used is the type of Qualitative Research. The subjects in this study were students whose parents were incomplete and were still actively studying at the University of Muhammadiyah Malang in the Department of Communication Studies Force 2014. While the data collection techniques used observation, documentation and in-depth interviews. The data obtained by the researcher came from subjects who had criteria in accordance with those determined by the researcher. The results of this study showed that of the three students whose parents were incomplete, two of them were very secretive and did not usually talk about personal problems to their immediate family. Even one of them is not very close to the nuclear family. From this study, it is also known that the role of close friends in the formation of self-concept is not very influential on students whose parents are incomplete even though they have spent a long time together, share stories and secrets, and have feelings that are connected to each other. The self-confidence of students whose parents are incomplete is also not affected much by their close friends except that it only adds to the nature of optimism. In the end, the self-concept of students whose parents are incomplete is still influenced by nuclear family and close friends only as physical presence, ego support, and affection. Based on the results of this study, it is suggested that students whose parents are incomplete and close friends should be able to help each other in achieving goals and forming a positive self-concept. Increasing the intensity of communication between students whose parents are incomplete and close friends can be done to increase trust, exchange ideas, and understand one another
