GAMBARAN MANAJEMEN DIRI PADA PASIEN PASCA STROKE Di Daerah Sumbersari, Kecamatan Lowokwaru, Kota Malang

Background: Post-stroke can be said to be the most difficult period for stroke sufferers, they will experience disability and inability to carry out activities as usual, one of which is not being able to fulfill ADL (activity daily living). Self-management in post-stroke patients is needed to empower individuals in skills such as: (1) medical management (preventing stroke recurrence), (2) maintaining roles (independently), (3) being able to control emotions (eg post-stroke depression). Objective: This study aims to determine the description of self-management applied by patients when dealing with stroke. Methods: This study uses a qualitative approach with a case study reach research strategy. The data technique uses triangulation (combined). The results of the study emphasize more on meaning than generalization. Collecting data using interview techniques, namely semi-structured interviews. Test the validity of the data using triangulation of data sources, namely the patient, the patient's wife, and their child. Results: From this study, 3 themes were obtained, namely, preventing recurrence, independence, and emotional conditions. Discussion: Based on the results of the research above, good and correct self-management can accelerate recovery in post-stroke patients
