PERILAKU ADAPTASI SOSIAL MAHASISWA PENDATANG DI MALANG (Studi Komunikasi Antarbudaya Pada Anggota Ikatan Pemuda Pelajar Mahasiswa Sulawesi Tengah / IPPMST di Kota Malang)

Adaptation or social adjustment is a process carried out by each individual in improving the quality of his social life. This study examines the Social Adaptation Behavior of Immigrant Students in Malang City on Members of the Central Sulawesi Student Association/IPPMST Malang. Researchers want to know the process of social adaptation carried out by IPPMST members in making social adaptations to their new living environment and what factors migrant students get in doing social adaptation in the city of Malang. There are many cultural differences between immigrant students from Central Sulawesi and people in Malang. Data collection techniques used are observation, interviews and also documentation. The data obtained is then processed using qualitative methods with a case study approach, where phenomena are carried out naturally so that they do not have control to change the situation. The results of the analysis in the adaptation process of immigrant students or members of IPPMST Malang 3 levels of the cultural adaptation process according to Young Yun Kim. These stages include stress, adaptation, and growth. The results showed that the main difficulty experienced by immigrant students from Central Sulawesi in the city of Malang was the Javanese language, so it took a week or even months for members of IPPMST Malang to carry out social adaptation in Malang
