Patients seeking therapy for addiction related issues have a high drop-out rate compared to other categories of patients. Psychological treatment is typically conceptualized as having a single beginning and end, where prevention of drop-out is a common goal to ensure a positive outcome from treatment. Less research has been conducted to understand and predict the process of patients returning to treatment after dropping out. This study aims to describe the drop-out frequency and the frequency of re-entry into treatment after drop-out, and the chances for a positive outcome when they do.
