This article examines copying as a tool for creating images and ethical challenges related to copyright in this regard. To investigate the topic, a teaching plan was developed where students used existing works of art to create new images. The article presents examples of visual and written data from the study, forming the basis for discussions about legal boundaries when using copyrighted works and about knowledge development concerning this topic. I argue that image creation through remixing can increase the understanding and knowledge of copyright.
