El proyecto cultural de la revista Mito. Análisis de su primer número

This paper describes the environment in which Mito magazine appeared in 1955, the year in which Colombia was facing bipartisan violence and cultural suffocation. However, from the mid-fifties on, the country saw how new cultural proposals were given birth. Such is the case of Mito, which became a cultural platform of a group of intellectuals who sought to contribute, from their respective literary fields, to the understanding of the reality the country was going through. From the analysis of its first issue, Mito is proposed as the agent of an invisible revolution that managed to undermine fundamental aspects of Colombian culture such as the sexual taboo. Therefore, it is suggested that knowing the work and trajectory of its founder, Jorge Gaitán Durán, brings new tools to literary criticism to interpret the function that the group and Mito magazine have had in the conformation of the modern institution of literature in Colombia.El artículo describe el ambiente en el que surgió la revista Mito en 1955, en una Colombia que enfrentaba la violencia bipartidista y el asfixiamiento cultural, pero que a partir de mediados de los años cincuenta vio nacer nuevas propuestas culturales como Mito, la cual se convirtió en plataforma cultural de un grupo de intelectuales que buscaron aportar, desde sus respectivos campos literarios, a la comprensión de la realidad que vivía el país. A partir del análisis de su primer número, se propone que Mito fue la gestora de una revolución invisible que logró minar aspectos fundamentales de la cultura colombiana como el tabú sexual. Sugiriéndose que conocer la obra y trayectoria de su fundador, Jorge Gaitán Durán, aporta nuevas herramientas a la crítica literaria para interpretar la función que el grupo y la revista Mito han tenido en la conformación de la institución moderna de la literatura en Colombia
