This paper presents the results obtained in a research project aiming the establishment of an appropriated method for determining the stem shaoe of Pinus hartwegii Lindl. trees. Three taper equation models have been tested: polinomial regression of second degree, polinomial regression of fifth degree and combined variable model. Second and fifth degree regression models are the best ones for stem shape fitting.Se presentan en este trabajo los resultados de una investigación dirigida a establecer la metodología más apropiada para estimar la forma externa del fuste de Pinus hartwegii Lindl.
