Confirmation and Faith Formation: A Curriculum Model

Confirmation is a critical part of the Christian Education ministry within the Lutheran Church. There are many different thoughts about appropriate age, curriculum, and meaning behind this rite of the church. When a congregation determines that there is a need for change in regards to the confirmation ministry of its children, it appears to become of personal nature to many individuals. In the last three years, the process of shifting the confirmation model at St. Matthew Lutheran Church has involved many people, time and energy. The goal is to have a meaningful experience for young people, as they grow in their faith and in relationship with their Lord. This project addresses the question of curriculum and the process of developing a ministry that involves not only the young people of the congregation, but their parents as well
