We are trying to synthesize aluminum-based hydrides using high-pressure technique. 3d transition metals are selected to alloy with aluminum. Both aluminum and 3d transition metals are known to have low hydrogen affinity, i.e. they cannot form their hydrides around ambient pressure. We have found that some Al-TM (TM = transition metals) alloys can be hydrogenated at high pressures, and formed hydrides can be recovered at ambient conditions.Thermec\u27202
