STUDENTS’ ATTITUDE TOWARDS EXTENSIVE READING AT ENGLISH EDUCATION DEPARTMENT OF STATE ISLAMIC UNIVERSITY OF SULTAN SYARIF KASIM RIAU

ABSTRACT Reza Rahmadany (2021) : Students’ Attitude towards Extensive Reading at English Education Department of State Islamic University of Sultan Syarif Kasim Riau. The purpose of this research is to investigate the students‟ attitudes toward Extensive Reading at English Education Department of State Islamic University of Sultan Syarif Kasim Riau. Students have difficulty understanding the text and finding answers, Then students do not have the reading speed to guess what the text is about, Considered as one of the problems that affect students' attitudes towards Extensive Reading. This research was Quantitative Descriptive research and it used survey method. The population of this research was 107 students. Simple random sampling technique was used to take the sample and the total sample was 27 students. In collecting the data, the researcher distributed the questionnaire which consisted of 21 items statements that were constructed based on the indicators of attitude. The researcher used descriptive and inferential statistics to analyze the data. The result of this research showed that the majority of the students‟ attitude was more than half positive with the mean score 59,7907, and the dominant aspect was affected in students‟ attitude toward Extensive Reading is Affective aspect with the highest score 740,0.
