Thesis (Master's)--University of Washington, 2021Purpose: To determine the prevalence of HIV oral manifestations and oral comorbidities in ART treated children and adolescents, and its relationship with oral health status at the time initiation of ART. Methods: We utilized convenience sampling of a population nested into ongoing cohort studies of 78 Kenyan HIV-infected children who were enrolled and initiated antiretroviral therapy (ART) as part of two clinical trials. Oral health examinations were performed by Community Oral Health Officers (COHO’s) to determine oral health endpoints.
