Thesis (Master's)--University of Washington, 2017The United States is dealing with a skilled labor shortage. Many factors contribute this but ultimately, the conclusion is that it stems from three main factors: the lack of ready to work skills from current graduates, social de-valuation of skilled labor, and changes in the nature of work due to automation. This coincides with a growing gap between the upper and middle class. This thesis proposes a trade school that will train young adults in the skill of additive manufacturing as a way to address the skilled labor shortage and enter the job market with a competitive edge.
