Finding Aid for David Barnard Personal Papers, 1942-1976

David Barnard, a former Stout student (B.S. 1946, M.S. 1947), began his 41 years of service on this campus in 1947 as a teacher of printing and visual aids. He subsequently became an Assistant Professor of Industrial Education in audio-visual education and photography; Professor of Industrial Education and Head of Audio-Visual Center; and was later named Dean of Learning Resources. During Barnard's term as Dean, Learning Resources consisted of the Library Learning Center, Instructional Technology Services, Academic Computer Services, Stout Tele-production Center, and Media Technology Department. A few of the many accomplishments of Barnard during his career at Stout include: helped to obtain a new library building and championed the application of up-to-date technology to improve services; developed and implemented the university's graduate program in media technology; helped to establish the Tele-production Center; and was instrumental in organizing the Academic Computer Center. Dr. Barnard retired in 1987.The collection consists of course materials and materials relating to films made at Stout during the 1960's and 1970's
