David Barnard, a former Stout student (B.S. 1946, M.S. 1947), began his 41 years of service on this campus in 1947 as a teacher of printing and visual aids. He subsequently became an Assistant Professor of Industrial Education in audio-visual education and photography; Professor of Industrial Education and Head of Audio-Visual Center; and was later named Dean of Learning Resources. During Barnard's term as Dean, Learning Resources consisted of the Library Learning Center, Instructional Technology Services, Academic Computer Services, Stout Tele-production Center, and Media Technology Department.
