The Office of Academic Affairs had its formal beginnings in 1964 when Dr. John A. Jarvis was named Dean of Instruction. Jarvis first came to Stout in 1946. Prior to his new appointment, Jarvis had served as Dean of the Division of Industrial Education and the Director of Summer Session. As the new Dean of Instruction, Jarvis became responsible for the supervision of the college's entire instructional program. Two years later, following a reorganization of the University's administrative structure, Jarvis became the Vice President for Academic Affairs. After stepping down in 1971, Jarvis was replaced by Dr. Wesley L. Face. Face, a long-time faculty member at Stout, had been the University Curriculum Coordinator and Assistant Vice President ...
