International audienceDuring the years 1996 and 1997 a team of the Laboratory of Prehistory, National Museum of Natural History, Paris, and of the Department of Archaeology, Karachi and Peshawar University, Pakistan, leads the first prehistoric field investigations in the District of Chitral, Hindu Kush, Pakistan, close to the Wakhan Corridor (the Amu Daria course in the Pamir). Problematics are the origins and the becoming of the Epipalaolithic/Neolithic hunters-gatherers known in the Pamir Plateau and the Gissar Range, the lithics tradition of which share common roots with the Sub-himalayan Soanian tradition (Mode 1).
