This contribution comprises transcribed field notes keyed to valid scientific names for specimens collected during 1991-2006 fieldwork that supported taxonomic revision of the native Hawaiian carabid beetles. An introduction includes all relevant publications describing the species.Taxonomic research was financially supported by The National Geographic Society, the U. S. National Science Foundation, and the American Philosophical Society. Hawaiian institutions and entities that aided the project included the State of Hawaii Department of Land and Natural Resources, The Nature Conservancy of Hawaii, Haleakala National Park, Hawaii Volcanoes National Park, and the Bishop Museum, Honolulu
