The linear propynylidynium $l$-C$_3$H$^+$ ($\text{X}^1\Sigma^+$) is part of the select group of interstellar cations. Its discovery was accompanied by a controversy in the astrophysical community.\footnote{\ Pety~\textit{et al.}, \textit{Astron.
