Peter I, planning a breakthrough to Europe at the turn of the 17th–18th centuries and the imperatives for the development of Russia, had high hopes for the triad of gymnasium — university — academy. At present, Russia is once again making a social and technological breakthrough. Universities can play a key role in guiding society and the scientific and technological community towards this breakthrough.Currently, the world and Russia are at a point of bifurcation. Self-organization in university activities can play a key role at this point. The humanitarian and technological revolution unfolding now requires a speedy overcoming of the gap between the scientific and humanitarian cultures and the development of interdisciplinary approaches.Universities’ orientation towards the future and the formulation of large-scale, promising tasks becomes important. Self-organization is of fundamental importance for the formation of interdisciplinary innovative teams that bring together representatives of various specialties.The triad of self-organization — future — professionalism can be imperative for a modern Russian university. In higher education, a transition from training “qualified consumers” to training creators should be completed in a matter of years. Self-organization at universities and throughout the university community can lead to Russia’s transition from the “pipe economy” to an innovative trajectory of the development path, to a knowledge society.Планируя прорыв в Европу на рубеже XVII–XVIII вв. и императивы развития России, Петр I возлагал большие надежды на триаду «гимназия — университет — академия». В настоящее время Россия вновь осуществляет социально-технологический прорыв. Ключевую роль в ориентации общества и научно-технического сообщества на этот прорыв могут сыграть университеты.В настоящее время мир и Россия находятся в точке бифуркации. В этой точке главную роль может сыграть самоорганизация в деятельности университетов. Разворачивающаяся сейчас гуманитарно-технологическая революция требует скорейшего преодоления пропасти между естественно-научной и гуманитарной культурами, развития междисциплинарных подходов.Важной становится ориентация университетов на будущее, постановка масштабных, перспективных задач. Самоорганизация приобретает принципиальное значение для формирования междисциплинарных инновационных команд, объединяющих представителей разных специальностей.Императивом современного российского университета может быть триада «самоорганизация — будущее — профессионализм». В считаные годы в высшем образовании должен быть совершен переход от обучения «квалифицированных потребителей» к подготовке творцов, созидателей. Самоорганизация в университетах и во всем университетском сообществе может привести к переходу России от «экономики трубы» к инновационной траектории пути развития, к обществу знания
