Excerpts from the report: Livestock producers have always had marketing problems. This is particularly true of the small producer who is in a weak bargaining position. Sorting and pooling his animals into lots with other producers' animals of similar weight and grade before they are offered for sale will help solve some of these problems. Cooperatives have been in the forefront in supplying producers with the services to pool their livestock. This study was undertaken to determine the status of livestock pooling in the United States, to evaluate it as an effective marketing tool, and to offer suggestions on ways to improve and expand it
