Percepción sobre la formación académico asistencial en medicina familiar en el Perú

This was a descriptive research conducted to determine the perception about family medicine instruction at 12 universities in Peru. The sample consisted of 48 resident physicians of both sexes, aged between 26 and 45 years, using a structured survey. Results: 61.7% of the population under study was female, 69.6% between 26 and 35 years old, 60.9% was enrolled in the third year, 51.1% were studying at public universities; 31.9% selected the university because of its prestige, and the entrance procedure was 57.4% in first option. Regarding the clinical field, 61.7% qualified it as regular for academic training and 36.2% considered that it did not have adequate services in terms of food, rest, and sanitary facilities. Regarding the academic structure, 85.1% had curricula, 66% had syllables delivered on time and 51.1% referred to having the university virtual library service available. 72% referred to having a coordinator of the specialty, 43.4% had a supervisor in each rotation. 70.2% stated that the curriculum is partially met and 53.2% that the university did not have sister agreements for internships in family medicine. Although 96% perceived that family medicine is a priority for the country and that 2/3 of those surveyed considered that the selection of this specialty was appropriate, they also perceived that it did not have social recognition, that job opportunities were low, as well as that health authorities did not know the scope of this specialty. It was concluded that, although the academic structure had been improved, the health system still did not have the conditions or services required to attract future primary care physicians, facilitate their training, keep them motivated at the end of their specialization, and give them the opportunity to serve the community and their families.Se realizó una investigación descriptiva para determinar la percepción sobre la formación en medicina familiar en 12 universidades del Perú. La muestra estuvo conformada por 48 médicos residentes de ambos sexos, con edades entre 26 y 45 años, usando una encuesta estructurada. Resultados: 61.7% de la población estudiada fue de sexo femenino, 69.6% entre 26 y 35 años, 60.9% cursaba el tercer año, 51.1% estudiaban en universidades nacionales; el 31.9% seleccionó la universidad por su prestigio, y la modalidad de ingreso fue en 57.4% en primera opción. Respecto al campo clínico, 61.7% lo calificó como regular para la formación académica y 36.2% consideró que no contaba con servicios adecuados en cuanto a alimentación, estar de reposo, servicios higiénicos. En relación a la estructura académica, el 85.1% contó con currículo, el 66% con sílabo en forma oportuna y el 51.1% refirió tener a disposición el servicio universitario de biblioteca virtual. El 72% refirió tener coordinador de la especialidad, 43.4% contaba con tutor en cada rotación. El 70.2% manifestó que el plan de estudios se cumple parcialmente y el 53.2% que la universidad no contaba con convenios para pasantías en medicina familiar. Si bien el 96% percibía que la medicina familiar es prioritaria para el país y 2/3 de los encuestados consideraba que la selección de dicha especialidad fue adecuada, también percibían que no tiene reconocimiento social, que las oportunidades laborales eran bajas, así como que las autoridades de salud desconocen los alcances de dicha especialidad. Concluimos que, si bien se ha mejorado la estructura académica, el sistema sanitario aún no tiene las condiciones ni los servicios requeridos para atraer futuros médicos de atención primaria, facilitar su entrenamiento, mantenerlos motivados al final de su especialización y darles la oportunidad para servir a la comunidad y sus familias
