Bat species richness and acoustic activity were compared among mangroves and riparian forests in Golfito, Costa Rica. Additionally, moon phobia was evaluated in the insectivorous bat species recorded. Five sites were sampled for each type of forest for one night. The acoustic passes obtained were 1470 (923 in the mangroves and 547 in the riparian forest), of 23 insectivorous bat species (21 in the mangroves and 15 in the riparian forest). A slight significate difference was found in insectivorous species richness between the two forests, but none in the activity. According to the results, there is no relation between species richness and moon phobia during the study. Both, the mangroves and riparian forest are important for insectivorous ba...
