A taxonomic key for the identification of 43 species of the genus Bursera known in Oaxaca is presented. Additional information is included regarding the availability of the description and illustration of each of these species. The key is largely based on characteristics of leaves, inflorescences and fruits. Information regarding the importance, general geographical distribution and history of the knowledge about these plants in this state are also included as well as some photographs.
