Measuring Shyness of Students in the Proposal Presentation

Abstract: Students have numerous challenges when trying to communicate in a foreign language, particularly English. One of the impediments is shyness, which is a psychological issue. The goal of this study is to determine the level of shyness among students and to discover the elements that contribute to their shyness when giving a proposal presentation. The McCroskey's Shyness Scale was used to assess students' levels of shyness. Thirty-seven students took part in the study. It has 14 questions on a five-point Likert scale. Only 19 percent of pupils scored in the “low” range, indicating that they are having difficulty overcoming their shyness. This study also discovered that a teacher's personality has an impact on a student's timidity. As a result, kids needed to be near to their teachers. Incomprehensible input is something that concerned by the students; the students often misunderstand in teacher’s asking way. Students' self-esteem is one of the challenges, as is the atmosphere, lack of preparation, and material
