A research project based on analysis of official documents concerning instrument teacher education and municipal music- and cultural school. Results seem to point out that the competence asked for in the praxis arena very much seem to be similar to what the education aims for, both musically and pedagogically. In spite of this, national and international research projects concludes that instrument teacher student does not seem to develop this competence, but in stead aim for competence as performers. The question still remains -why? It seems important to find out what kind of unofficial mechanisms that cause this, and if there is somethings that can be done to make instrument teacher student develop both instrumental and good pedagogical ...
