The biodiversity of Åfjord municipality, Central Norway was investigated according to national directives which emphasise mapping of selected land cover types. A total of 122 localities were described based on published reports and field investigations. Fieldwork was concentrated on coastal areas. The localities were assigned as national important (19 localities), regionally important (60 localities) and lo-cally important (30 localities). 13 localities were not given an importance value.
