Background Provision of timely and effective pain care for children presenting to the emergency department has challenged clinicians for several decades. Guided by our integrative review of the literature (1) and the integrated Promoting Action on Research Implementation in Health Services framework (2) we designed a collaborative implementation research project to optimise paediatric pain management in the emergency department.MethodsThe Kids Pain Collaborative was established in March 2020 to co-design an evidence based bundle aimed at optimising pain management.
