ESTUDIO DE LA DINÁMICA FOLICULAR EN NOVILLAS SIMMENTAL FLECKVIEH:: PRIMERA PARTE

The objective of this research was to characterize the follicular dynamics in heifers of the Simmental Fleckvieh breed under Tropical savanna climate conditions. Sixteen estrous cycles were studied in eight animals (two consecutive cycles per animal). A greater number of estrous cycles were observed with two waves of follicular development (81.25%), followed by those of three and four waves. Longer estrous cycles (23 days) were found in the patterns of four waves of follicular development, while the patterns of two and three waves presented shorter cycles (19 and 22 days respectively). The beginning of the follicular wave, for the three observed patterns, occurred between the day zero and one of the cycle, while the following waves (two and three) always emerged one to three days earlier in the cycles with patterns of greater number of waves. The corpus luteum (CL), was seen between day three and day five of the cycle, which reached a maximum diameter of 2.23 cm on average, and began its regression around day 15.63. We conclude that Simmental Fleckvieh heifers under tropical climate conditions tend to manifest estrus cycles mostly with two wave patterns of follicular development and therefore, these cycles tend to be longer than the reported 21-day cycle in the classical literature. In the same way, they presented a good luteal development with the capacity to prepare the uterus for pregnancy and favoring implantation.El objetivo fue caracterizar la dinámica folicular en novillas de la raza Simmental Fleckvieh en condiciones de clima tropical de sabana. Se estudiaron 16 ciclos estrales en ocho animales (dos ciclos consecutivos por animal). Se observó un mayor número de ciclos estrales con dos ondas de desarrollo folicular (81.25%), seguido de los de tres y cuatro ondas. Se encontraron ciclos estrales más largos (23 días) en los patrones de cuatro ondas de desarrollo folicular, mientras que los patrones de dos y tres ondas presentaron ciclos más cortos (19 y 22 días respectivamente). El inicio de la onda folicular, para los tres patrones observados, ocurrió entre el día cero y uno del ciclo, en tanto que las siguientes ondas (dos y tres) emergieron siempre uno a tres días antes en los ciclos con patrones de mayor número de ondas. Se vio el CL entre el día tres y el día cinco del ciclo, el cual alcanzó un diámetro máximo de 2.23 cm en promedio, e inició su regresión alrededor del día 15.63. Concluimos que las novillas Simmental Fleckvieh bajo condiciones de clima tropical tienden a manifestar ciclos estrales en su mayoría con patrones de dos ondas de desarrollo folicular y, por lo tanto, dichos ciclos suelen ser más prolongados que el reportado ciclo de 21 días en la literatura clásica. Del mismo modo, estas presentaron un buen desarrollo luteal con capacidad de preparar al útero para la preñez y favorecer la implantación
