UTILIZACIÓN DE ASOCIACIONES DE MACROINVERTEBRADOS POTENCIALMENTE INDICADORAS (API’s) PARA DISCRIMINAR AGUAS DE DIFERENTE CALIDAD

  The study was developed in four contrasting streams (Qbda. Ancha, Qbda. Limón, Chilibre, Chilibrillo), during the period September 1999 – may 2000, in order to use ‘Asociaciones Potencialmente Indicadoras, API’s (‘Potentially Indicator Associations’ e.g. CHIRO, EPT, MOL, HOT) to discriminate streams with different water quality. A 25m long study site, was established in each stream, where three leaf packs were taken monthly. Samples from Qbda. Ancha were dominated by CHIRO, MOL, HOT, whereas Qbda. Limon, Chilibrillo, and Chilibre by CHIRO, EPT, and DEP. Cluster analyses showed that Chilibrillo and Chilibre were the most similar sites in taxocenotic terms, though Qbda. Ancha was the most different. Similar pattern was showen when using physico-chemical data.  El estudio se realizó en las QBDAS. Ancha y Limón y los ríos Chilibre y Chilibrillo, en el punto en que cruzan la Transístmica, de septiembre de 1999 a mayo de 2000. En cada sitio se estableció una estación de 25 metros de longitud y durante 9 meses se colectaron tres muestras de paquetes de hojarasca (‘leafpacks’). En esta sección del estudio nos propusimos utilizar Asociaciones de Macroinvertebrados Potencialmente Indicadoras (API’s) tales como CHIRO, EPT, MOL, HOT, DEP, para discriminar aguas superficiales con diferente calidad. En QBDA. Ancha se observó dominancia de CHIRO. MOL y HOT, en cambio, en Qbda. Limón, Chilibrillo y Chilibre dominaron CHIRO, EPT y DEP. El Análisis Jerárquico de Conglomerados (Cluster) mostró que la mayor similitud taxocenótica se evidenció entre Chilibre y Chilibrillo, siendo Qbda. Ancha la más diferente. El análisis con los datos fisico-químicos mostró igual patrón
