RIQUEZA Y ABUNDANCIA DE LAS ESPECIES DE MURCIÉLAGOS DE DONOSO, PROVINCIA DE COLÓN, PANAMÁ

Between August 2010 and March 2011, inventories of bats was carried out done in six locations of the Copper Project concession of Minera Panamá, S.A. in the District of Donoso, Colon province. The objective was to characterize the bats in areas near of the company infrastructures and to contribute to the general knowledge of this group of mammals in the region. The bats were caught with mist nets of 12 m length by 2.6 m height, spread out in three simultaneous sites each night, with five nets in each one and placed at 0.5 m above the ground. The study recorded 419 bats, belonging to 32 species and 4 families. The Phyllostomatidae familily reported 407 individuals (97% of the captures) and 29 species (85% of total species). On the other hand, the Mormoopidae, Vespertilionidae and Molossidae families only registered one species each one. The most abundant species was Carollia perspicillata with 217 individuals (52%). The other abundant species were C. castanea with 50 specimen (12%), Dermanura watsoni with 37 individuals (9%) and Dermanura watsoni with 37 individuals (9%) and D. phaeotis with 32 individuals (8%). These species represent 80% of total bat captures. The abundance of the 28 species was included 13 or less individuals. The results of this study increases to 46 the bats known from the region between Cocle del Norte and Belen rivers, area of Donoso District, Colon province.A finales de 2010 y comienzos de 2011 se efectuaron inventarios de murciélagos en seis sitios de la concesión del proyecto de Minera Panamá S.A, Distrito de Donoso, provincia de Colón. Los objetivos fueron caracterizar los quirópteros en áreas próximas a las instalaciones de la compañía y conocer sobre este grupo de mamíferos en la región. Los murciélagos fueron capturados con redes de niebla de 12 m de largo por 2.6 m de alto, desplegadas en tres sitios simultáneos cada noche, con cinco redes en cada una y colocadas a 0.5 m sobre el suelo. Se capturaron 419 murciélagos de 32 especies y cuatro familias. De Phyllostomidae hubo 407 individuos (97% de la capturas), incluidos en 29 especies que representan el 85% de las especies registradas. En Mormoopidae, Vespertilionidae y Molossidae sólo se registró una especie para cada una. La especie más abundante fue Carollia perspicillata con 217 individuos (52%). Otras especies moderadamente abundantes fueron C. castanea con 50 ejemplares (12%), Dermanura watsoni con 37 individuos (9%) y D. phaeotis con 32 individuos (8%) de las capturas totales. Estas especies incluyeron el 80% de los murciélagos atrapados. Las otras 28 especies incluyeron 13 o menos individuos y de 16 especies, sólo se capturó un individuo. La presente información aumenta a 46 especies los murciélagos conocidos en el sector entre el río Coclé del Norte y el río Belén, área del Distrito de Donoso, provincia de Coló
