Do paediatric early warning scores relate to emergency department outcomes for children aged 0‐2 years brought in by ambulance?

Ambulance service policy requires paramedics in certain parts of the UK to transport children aged 0‐2 years to hospital, regardless of their presenting complaint. While there are a number of paediatric early warning scores (PEWS) that exist to detect deterioration in the hospitalised child, no study has considered the potential relationship between a PEWS recorded by the ambulance service and emergency department (ED) outcome.
