Signos da mulher negra na xilogravura MAJESTADE/2005, de Jacira Moura

ABSTRACT We present a preliminary study that aims to analyze the woodcut Majestade/2005, by the artist Jacira Moura, associated with popular culture and the meanings attributed to the image of black women. We approached a concise study about the representation of black women in visual arts to proceed to the analysis of the print. The method was based on principles for applying visual semiotics according to Pietroforte (2004, 2007), which is founded on Greimasian semiotics. Understanding the woodcut as a text, we identified the categories of the expression plane to then relate them to the content plane. At first we found the attributes of the plane of expression that constituted meaning and semisymbolic relations between the black queen vs. the popular black woman. Keywords: Woodcut. Jacira Moura. Popular Culture.RESUMO Apresentamos um estudo preliminar que tem como objetivo analisar a xilogravura Majestade/2005, da artista sergipana Jacira Moura, associada a cultura popular e aos significados atribuídos a imagem da mulher negra. Abordamos um conciso estudo sobre a representação da mulher negra nas artes visuais para proceder a análise da gravura. O método teve como base princípios para aplicação da semiótica visual segundo Pietroforte (2004, 2007), que tem fundamento na semiótica greimasiana. Entendendo a xilogravura como um texto, identificamos as categorias do plano de expressão para então relacioná-las ao plano do conteúdo. A princípio encontramos os atributos do plano de expressão que constituiu sentido e relações semissimbólicas entre mulher negra rainha vs. mulher negra popular. Palavras-chave: Xilogravura.
