An Interdisciplinary Approach to Creating Collaborative Research Partnerships

This presentation will examine the benefits of combining academic disciplines to promote research collaboration among faculty and students. Research has shown that doctoral student integration into their discipline is a significant factor in their ability to persist toward graduation. As more and more programs turn to an online delivery approach, student involvement becomes more and more difficult. This study outlines an interdisciplinary approach to creating collaborative research partnerships at every level of post secondary education. Using the expertise of faculty from multiple departments, faculty and students are able to seek out research projects and opportunities to collaborate through innovative technology. Though this project originally set out to engage doctoral students with potential dissertation chairs, the impact of these partnerships reaches every level of higher education
