The invention provides a top-breathing gas burner comprising a bowl, a crown, a cap, a fuel injector, and a spark plug. The crown further comprises an anti-flashback wall that restricts any flame from entering an intermediate passage formed in terms of the geometrical structure of the stacked assembly of components. The wall is a protruding element that functions as an obstruction by restricting any misguided gas combustion from further developing within the inner sections of the burner components. The invention provides a gas burner that effectively protects the injector and inner components from internal combustion by blocking any misguided flame during flame instability scenarios
