Background: There is a gradual increase in the use of non-amalgam restorative materials though the use of Dental amalgam is still popular.Aim & Objectives: To ascertain the trend in Amalgam and non-amalgam restorations of posterior carious lesions at the University of Benin Teaching Hospital (UBTH) Benin city.Methodology: A 3-year retrospective analysis of all the restored carious teeth with amalgam and non-amalgam restorative materials at the Conservative Clinic, UBTH. The class of cavities, the teeth affected, the type of restoration carried out, the outcome and the demographics of the patients were obtained from patients' case notes/record books.
