Background: Quality assessment of oil is a fundamental parameter for having and maintaining high quality standards.Objective: The study assessed the quality of palm oil sold in major market in Abia north senatorial zone, Nigeria.Methods: Three out of 5 Local Government Areas (LGAs) were randomly selected in Abia north. Fifteen samples were selected from one major market purposefully selected from each LGA. Sensory properties of the oil were used to group the 45 samples into 3 (good, average and bad oil) before the physicochemical analysis.
