This paper posits that there is observed in Nigeria, the continuous under representation of women in both the elective and appointive positions at all levels of the society. It argues that given their population and innate potentialities in contributing to the political and socioeconomic development of the country, it behoves on the state to map out workable strategies that would ensure the effective empowerment of women at all levels.
