Diabetes mellitus is a group of common metabolic disorders in which a person has high blood glucose either because the body does not produce enough insulin or because cells do not respond to the insulin. The prevalence of diabetes is rapidly rising all over the globe at an alarming rate. There is an increase in the prevalence of type 1 diabetes also, but the main cause of the diabetic epidemic is type2 diabetes mellitus, which accounts for more than 90 percent of all diabetes cases.
